Historic Rail Adventures, LLC (HRA) offers guests a narrow-gauge rail experience through The Georgetown Loop Railroad and Mining Park. The unique train ride, various mine tours on offer, picturesque alpine setting and proximity to Denver draws a global audience of nearly a quarter-million visitors throughout spring, summer, autumn and early winter. HRA is seeking an entry-level Brakeman to assist the conductor and carry out a variety of functions both on the track and within the train.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Ensure couplings between cars are properly made, lining switches

· Signal to train operators while performing switching operations

· Signals to engineers for the movement of locomotives or trains, using hand signals or radios

· Apply or release air and mechanical hand brakes

· Connect or disconnect air hoses and electrical connections

· Align knuckles on coupling devices and release uncoupling levers

· Assist conductor with passenger ticket collection

· Make intercom announcements as required

· Perform platform tasks as needed

· Continually monitor train consist for issues you can see, feel, hear or smell

· Make minor repairs and adjustments on the train under the guidance of the conductor

· Report deficiencies and identify whether or not deficiencies are corrected

Required Qualifications:

· Basic mechanical knowledge

· Ability to use hand tools

· Ability to lift 80 lbs. and push or pull 100 lbs. (with the aid of mechanical devices)

· Ability to stand for extended periods

· Ability to maintain balance walking on uneven surfaces

· Ability to climb ladders and a variety of equipment

Pay Rate: Starting at $20.00 an hour.

NOW HIRING: Shop Mechanic

Historic Rail Adventures, LLC (HRA) offers guests a narrow-gauge rail experience through The Georgetown Loop Railroad and Mining Park. The unique train ride, various mine tours on offer, picturesque alpine setting and proximity to Denver draws a global audience of nearly a quarter-million visitors throughout spring, summer, autumn and early winter. HRA is seeking a dedicated worker to repair and maintain equipment. The Shop Mechanic plays a vital role ensuring the safe operation of the train and mechanical equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience in shop maintenance work and work effectively in a team environment.

Essential Duties:

· Responsible for repairing and maintaining locomotives (steam & diesel) and rolling stock

· Respond to emergency situations such as breakdowns, rockslides and downed trees on the line

· Involved in equipment inspection, cleaning, maintenance, repair, and restoration

· Clear snow on the line, in train yards and on platforms

· Assist track repair when required

· Weld and heat metal with a torch

· Perform basic plumbing & electrical work

· Occasionally paint and do wood working

· Use hand & power tools

· Fabricate with metal and wood

· Operate power equipment–including locomotives, forklift, backhoe etc.

· Other duties assigned by supervisors

Job Requirements:

· The job is classified as heavy work. Requires occasional lifting, carrying, frequent pushing and pulling of 100 lbs. (often with aid of mechanical devices)

· Must be knowledgeable in safety rules and be able to work in a safe manner

· Must become familiar with the Georgetown Loop Railroad rulebook, employee handbook, FRA rules, OSHA standards, and Safety Data Sheets for materials used

· Able to work in enclosed or confined spaces (service pits, under railcars, inside fireboxes)

· Must possess a natural mechanical aptitude and an eagerness to both learn and teach skills

· Must have a working knowledge of safety practices

· Must maintain a clean and safe work area

· Ability to stand for extended periods

· Ability to maintain balance walking on uneven surfaces

· Ability to climb ladders and a variety of equipment

· Some overtime might be required

Pay Rate: $23.00 – $30.00 an hour, depending on experience

NOW HIRING: Track Maintenance Laborer

The unique train ride, various mine tours on offer, picturesque alpine setting and proximity to Denver draws a global audience of nearly a quarter-million visitors throughout spring, summer, autumn and early winter. HRA is seeking a dedicated worker for our Track team. The Track Maintenance Laborer plays a vital role, ensuring safe and efficient movement of the train and guests—through diligent, ongoing track installation, maintenance and repair. The ideal candidate will have experience in Railroad Maintenance of Way work and effective communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Conduct thorough railroad track, track bed, and track right-of-way inspections to identify safety risks

· Replace or repair rails rail anchors, spikes, ballasts, ties and related components as needed

· Perform other track maintenance, repair and install tasks as needed, which might involve operating heavy equipment

· Maintain track beds that are free from vegetation and debris and ensure moveable track parts are unobstructed and can move freely

· Continually adhere to company and industry safety rules, practices and procedures

· Build & maintain positive work environment with colleagues, supervisors, contractors and railroad guests

Required Qualifications:

· Possess a valid Class C driver license

· Experience welding or possess a welding certificate

· Experience operating heavy equipment such as construction or farm equipment.

· Experience reading and understanding federal regulatory documents, operating/safety rules, bulletins, and special instructions.

· Ability to lift 80 lbs.

· Ability to stand for extended periods

· Ability to maintain balance walking on uneven surfaces

· Ability to climb ladders and a variety of equipment

Pay Rate: $28.00 – $30.00 an hour, depending on experience. While this is a seasonal position, it could be a year-round position for the candidate with additional skills that can be leveraged during the off season.
